GPG Error

AppVV is one of the most popular repos that users add to Cydia as it contains vShare. vShare is the app installer that allows you to download from a whole heap of paid content , much of which are the apps and games you find in the iOS app store. For more information about AppVV [ about ], click on the linked article. For most people, adding AppVV and using it will go smoothly but there is one error that is being reported, especially by new Cydia users and it’s a GPG Error.

How to Fix GPG Error ?

This is much like the 404 error you get when you visit a website that is no longer in existence and you may see it in one of a few ways. The error message you get might read.

  • GPG Error : The following signatures were invalid: NODATA 1 NODATA 2, or
  • Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead

The reason for that is because at least one of the sources you have installed in Cydia has become unavailable, either permanently or temporarily.

It could be that you have input the wrong URL when adding it or the source itself may have been closed. Sometimes source links break and that causes a lot of problems if the developers don’t pick up on it and, on occasion, the source may have another reason for not allowing you to connect. Whatever the reason, the best way to fix the error is to keep trying. If you still can’t get in within a couple of days and the same error keeps cropping it, the only thing you can do is delete the repo and here’s how to do that:

How to Fix AppVV Repo Error :

  1. Open Cydia
  2. Go to the menu at the bottom and tap on Sources > Edit
  3. Find AppVV source and tap the minus sign beside it
  4. Tap on Done
  5. Now tap Changes and then Refresh
  6. AppVV will be deleted from Cydia

To add it in again if you want to, you can find the instructions at the linked article below:

Hopefully this will fix any problems that you are having with AppVV repo and, in more cases than not, when you re-add the repo again, it will work properly.
